Unlock the Powerful Benefits of Red Light Therapy!

Red Light Therapy And it’s Powerful Benefits!

Red light therapy is an increasingly popular form of treatment that uses low-power lasers or LEDs to deliver red light to the body. It’s a noninvasive, drug-free and pain-free therapy, and is used to treat a variety of conditions, from skin issues to pain relief. It’s delivering a natural light to your body.

In this blog post, we’ll explore the powerful benefits of red light therapy, the different types of treatments available, and how red light therapy can improve your health and wellness.

Why?

Light is one of the most important “nutrients” for most life on earth. We say “nutrient”, but it is really a signal for regulation of biological processes, and for our circadian rhythm! Red light may stimulate the hormone Melatonin and help with rest and energy!

What is Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy is also called:

  • Cold laser therapy
  • Low Level Laser Therapy or LLLT
  • Photonic Stimulation
  • Phototherapy
  • Photobiomodulation

and more.

This therapeutic technique uses low-power lasers or LEDs to deliver red light to the body. Red light therapy works by penetrating the skin and stimulating the cells and tissue, helping to boost the body’s natural healing and repair processes.

The most common form of red light therapy is LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy, which is a type of light therapy that utilizes LED lights to emit a specific wavelength of red light. This type of light is commonly used for skin issues. It may reduce inflammation and may have a positive effect on your wrinkles!

Why? Because it increases collagen in your skin. Besides acne, people have tried LED light therapy for conditions like rosacea, psoriasis, dermatitis, and even for scarring and sun damage.

Did your Integumentary System show up stressed on your CBH Scan, but you don’t know why? Consider scarring, toxins, and sun damage as one of the influences or stressors!

LED therapy is said to be a safe, painless, and non-invasive way to treat a variety of health conditions. Red light isn’t the only form of LED that can be used for health, but we will focus on this type for this article.

Red Light Therapy Benefits

This type of light treatment offers a range of benefits for your health and wellness.

We’ve mentioned:

  • Reduce inflammation.
  • Reduce pain.
  • Improve your skin’s health and appearance.

It can also:

  • Promote healing.
  • Boost your energy levels.
  • Improve your mood.
  • Enhance your brain health.

Inflammation can be local, and produce swelling, pain and discomfort in specific areas. This type of pain can affect all ages of our clients. Many people come to us because of joint pain, due to possible Lyme or arthritis. The increase in blood flow may provide more antioxidants to the areas exposed to light.

This antioxidant potential may also help with body wide inflammation as well.

There are these things called opsins,  which, according to the dictionary are “a protein which forms part of the visual pigment rhodopsin and is released by the action of light (1)”

All animals have these universal photoreceptor molecules in their visual systems (1). When light activates them they can change. Their conformation goes from a resting state to a state that signals, activating something called the G protein. This results in a reaction of physiological responses. This process is called phototransduction.

According to www.neuroscientificallychallenged.com, “Phototransduction is the process that occurs in the retina where light is converted into electrical signals that can be understood by the rest of the nervous system (3).”

Could red light be beneficial if your Nervous System dial shows up stressed on your CBH Scan? Yes, we think so!

Red light therapy can be used to boost your brain health. The red light helps to stimulate the production of neurotransmitters, which are the chemicals responsible for carrying messages between the brain and the body. This can help to improve:

  • Cognitive function.
  • Reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • Improve your overall brain health (5).

The red light also helps to stimulate the production of endorphins, which are the body’s natural feel-good hormones. This can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and improve your overall mood and wellbeing.

How Does It Work?

Red light therapy treatment typically involves sitting in front of a LED panel for a few minutes a day. The LED panel emits a specific wavelength of red light, which penetrates the skin, and eyes, and stimulates the cells and tissue. The amount of time you need to spend in front of the LED panel will vary depending on the condition you are treating, but it is usually recommended to use the treatment for 10-15 minutes per day for optimal results.

Red light therapy is a safe and effective treatment, but it is important to speak to your doctor before trying it.

Is Red Light Therapy Anti-Aging?

We’ve already mentioned the effectiveness in treating a variety of skin issues with light.

The red light helps to stimulate the production of collagen, which is responsible for keeping the skin looking young and healthy. The red light stimulates fibroblasts, which are cells that help to make connective tissue. These cells secrete collagen proteins, which help in healing wounds, and also intradermal, (within the skin) collagen density. This can help reduce the signs of aging on the skin (4)

Basically, you can work towards reducing the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging, as well as improve skin tone and texture.

If the Locomotor System shows up stressed on a CBH Scan, many people look to the joints as the prime source.  Sometimes it is a toxin, like the phenol group that can stress the Locomotor System.

Red Light Therapy for Pain Relief

Red light therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing inflammation and pain. The red light helps to stimulate the production of endorphins, which are the body’s natural feel-good hormones. This can help to reduce pain and discomfort, as well as improve your overall mood and wellbeing.

This happens due to that Photobiomodulation mentioned earlier. This may create a decrease in reactive nitrogen species and prostaglandins, which are hormone like messengers that are involved in inflammation. They are also involved in uterine contractions, so one would think that Red Light might be helpful for PMS and related issues.

Red light  has also been used with a variety of chronic pain conditions, such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Red Light Therapy for Hair Loss

Red light has been shown to be effective in addressing hair loss. This goes back to the stimulation of the production of collagen and elastin, which are responsible for keeping the hair follicles healthy. This has been used to help reduce hair loss, as well as improve the overall health of the hair.

Red light therapy has also been used to treat alopecia, which is an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss. The red light helps to reduce inflammation and stimulate the production of endorphins, which can help to reduce hair loss and improve the overall health of the hair.

Red Light Therapy Brain Health

Red light therapy has also been used to improve brain health.

The red light helps to stimulate the production of neurotransmitters, which are the chemicals responsible for carrying messages between the brain and the body. This can help to improve cognitive function, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and improve your overall brain health.

Red light therapy has also been used with a variety of neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. This research is still in it’s infancy, but you can see what Alzheimers.org.uk has to say.

Red Light Therapy Safety

Red light therapy is a safe and effective treatment, but it is important to speak to your health care provider before trying it.

We always recommend licensed care practitioner advice alongside any integrative intervention.

Follow the instructions provided by your professional, when using red light therapy, as incorrect use could lead to skin irritation or burns.

Eye protection should be used.

Red light therapy can be a powerful tool for improving your health and wellbeing, but it is important to remember that it is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you are suffering from a medical condition, it is important to speak to your doctor before trying red light therapy.

If you are looking for a safe and effective way to improve your health and wellbeing, red light therapy may be the answer. It has been used to treat a variety of conditions, from skin issues to pain relief, and can be used to boost your energy levels, improve your mood, and enhance your brain health. With the powerful benefits of red light therapy, it’s no wonder it is becoming increasingly popular.
